I was born hearing and became Deaf at the age of 3 due to a high fever. I began learning American Sign Language (ASL) at age 6 during kindergarten, and ASL has been my primary language ever since. As a native ASL user, I have years of lived experience communicating within both the Deaf and hearing communities.
